As two sisters growing up in a traditional family outside of Chicago, and later in New Jersey, we were fairly politically astute, largely due to a father who was a dedicated student of history and politics. Our perspective on the importance of citizen involvement dramatically changed in 2008, though. The bailouts… then, when Bush signed the tarp bill, we realized how many Americans didn’t want him to sign it, and couldn’t believe he did so anyway. As we predicted, federal stimulus packages and bailouts have barely changed a thing, or helped anyone, other than providing our government with unprecedented power and growing disregard for the U.S. Constitution, not to mention heaping a mountain of debt on our children’s future which appears to be showing signs of far-reaching consequences.
A few years later, we’ve seen our country’s political landscape dramatically change. More and more individuals who voted for the current administration want a refund, and everyone who didn’t wants a refund too. The GOP is trying to win back conservatives, Democrats continue to capitalize on their majority, and everyone in between continues seeking solutions.
The Health Care Freedom Act, which turned into Prop C on the primary ballot in August 2010, was a legislative project we committed to for an entire year. An overview of the journey is summarized here.
I Heard The People Say believes in teamwork first, no matter what. Everyone on our team:
- Embraces faith in God, but are not exclusive of those who don’t
- Is reliable, humble, honest and energetic for positive change
- Has no political party affiliation
- Believes in all principles of the U.S. Constitution
- Pursues no negative propaganda against specific politicians
I Heard The People Say supports our military always. We help concerned citizens become involved in the political process. We support and advertise any event that promotes freedom. We are watchdogs of all things freedom related, including how our elected officials vote. We educate voters about the Constitution and host events to learn about current candidates. We continue collaborating with as many Constitutional conservatives as possible to complete the sacrifices of our Founding Fathers.
FINE PRINT:
I Heard The People Say is a network of ordinary citizens turned activists in the Midwest simply working to get other ordinary citizens involved in the political process. People that join us are generally interested in freedom and adherence to the U.S. Constitution. IHTPS is an LLC for the basic purposes of initially setting up the web site and such. We do not accept monies for membership dues or anything else. Our only “assets” are YOU- the volunteers who work with us and our sizable email list. If one of you sets up a meeting and the facility costs $100 for a couple hours, the hat is usually passed to reimburse the person who reserved the venue. It’s your voice, your feedback and the work of your hands that guides our objectives and goals.
Do you doubt if you, just one person, can make a difference? Do not doubt, because the world is run by those who show up. The game is won by those on the field. The battle is won by those in the trenches.
Lastly, IHTPS does not endorse any candidate or organization. If volunteers want to work on a specific campaign, it is their personal choice. If the majority of the people in our data base want to work against a particular bill moving through the legislature, it is also each individual’s personal choice. It is probable that all the like-minded people around us will eventually land on the same issue initiatives and campaign teams, and we hope that’s the case.
MISSION STATEMENT:
As one nation under God, to restore our Republic by educating and engaging citizens to take action under the freedoms of the U.S. Constitution.
