The 2nd amendment is so basic to the American freedoms we have. No where else in the world do citizens enjoy the rights and protection of the bill of rights and the 2nd amendment. Slowly, step by step there are people and groups who work every day to strip us of our rights. We must stand up and say "NO, you cannot take away our rights that so many fought and died to give to the free people of America." I stood up in maplewood, Rock Hill, and Olivett before their City Councils as they prohibited open carry. They ignore Art. 1 Sec. 23 of the Missouri Constitution. Which rights will loose next? Religion, speech, assembly....
I'll be there in Chesterfield, MO. January 18th 7:00 PM to say "NO", just like I did in the other Cities. I won't stop till my rights are ensured by our legislators, soem of whom are preparing to file bills to establish "Pre-emption". That is to say no municipal, or county governmental body can pass laws, rules or rstrictions which violate the rights given to the people under Art.1 Sec. 23 of our Missouri Constitution.

Stand up for your rights or soon they will be lost.

Well said, Sandy. I used to think it nice not to deal with cigarette smoke in restaurants until I realized how one ban leads to another and freedom becomes dispensible. Very bad choice.

What an articulate spokesman and stateman. He specialized in translating complicated issues into simple everyday language, and encouraging the People. I pray our nation can be preserved without someone like him. It's definitely a bigger challenge.

Steve,

Point to where in either the U.S. or Missouri constitutions smoking is recognized as an "inalienable right" or specifically listed in a bill of rights. If we support the concept of limited government as outlined in the U.S. constitution, then we have to support the ability of local governments to pass bad laws for their local communities. EVERY law infringes on SOMEONE'S "freedom" So the paradox becomes one of accepting local laws that we may disagree with to promote the principles of limited government.

Otherwise we on the right are no better than the activist liberal judges who wrongly point to the constitution to overturn community laws/standards against homosexuality and abortion based on the belief that it is unconstitutional to prohibit that type of behavior.

There is talk about a smoking ban where I live now. I do not smoke. It's no one's busieness if I do. Especially if its not illegal, do people not realize that it opens the door to other no-no's at someone's restaurant. Let freedom ring!

What in the world will Paul Curtman do? This has to be deliberate on the judges part.
How can the other representatives decide who will run and who won't? What a terrible situation.
